  • Don't judge any school from the country it's in. Usually, Boarding schools will be in a place which is far from the city. A boarding school in a poor country can be good. Take a weekend and try to look at the school's facilities and faculties.

  • Don't forget to take clothes and all the stuff that you needed to the hostel. You will need them eventually and try to bring more than enough. Remember that you cannot go back home every day to take these things.

  • Always be nice to people don't stubborn with them. You will have a rough school life if you don't have any friend. Living with people 24/7 is a very different thing. You will come to know about their character and you may not like all of their qualities but you will learn to accept. Understand that nobody is perfect.

  • Always be clean and neat only then others will come and interacts with you. Bathe every day to make yourself clean. Nobody wants to share a room with someone that stinks.

  • Always talk to your roommate and be in touch because they are the one who is supposed to spend more time with you. Usually, schools put students of different nationalities together. So that you will be able to know more about their culture and respect them.

  • Always obey and respect teachers. Having a bad relationship with a teacher while boarding is not good because they are the one who is there to guide and protect us. Follow the rules even though you may think they are sometimes ridiculous, but it is to ensure you have a safe and disciplined life.

  • Deal with ones who bully you at school. If there is a bully in the school, tell a friend or the best way is to tell a teacher. Boarding schools are usually good and teachers will actually and they are supposed to help you.

  • Try to have as much as fun in school by doing things you enjoy when you are able. This is very important or you will have a very dull and bad life. You won't get this precious time back. Join for more activities and integrate with them. It may be hard in the beginning, but when you have a few friends, you will get the happy atmosphere and eventually win more friends.

  • Try to be friends with people that have the same schedule as yours, For example, if you need to get up early in the morning, someone else with be doing the same.

At the topmost point of Aruvikkuzhi waterfalls, a church called St. Mary’s Church is located and the waterfall is surrounded by rubber plantations.  It is a great location for photography enthusiasts and one of the most scenic waterfalls in Kerala.

Juma Masjid


Juma Masjid in Kumarakom a 1000-year-old mosque is considered to be among the oldest mosques in the country. This place is also called as Thazhathangady Mosque and it has a magnificent architecture with extraordinary wood carvings on the walls. It is not one of the typical tourist places in Kumarakom but it is famous for its mystical history and calm surrounding.

Bay Island Driftwood Museum  is a must visit museum in Kumarakom Kerala. It showcases a large unique collection of driftwood sculptures were the sculptures were collected from the shores of Andaman and Nicobar. Sculptures are made from twisted trunks of the trees, roots and stumps.
